Today's Thoughts

Weighed in and saw the doctor today. They showed a 3 lb. loss since my last visit 2 weeks ago, however, I was wearing heavier clothing this time. I always weigh myself just before I go in so I know what the difference is between my scale and theirs. When I got on the scale wearing what I had on last time, it was 205.3. I then put on my jeans and sweater and it recorded -- get this -- 209.2. They showed 209.6. Last time, it was 212.5 (home was 212.1).

Physician Comments

Dr. P. said most patients were happy if they were able to hold their own throughout the holidays and said I should be very glad I actually lost weight. I am. Blood pressure is good.
I asked the doctor about carbohydrates and my confusion with net carbs, sugar alcohols and so forth. He said that for our purpose, I don't even need to worry about them nor count them (sorry, but I'm going to anyway). All that counts is the total calories and protien (min. of 70 grams/day). He said more, but we'll leave it at that.

Just a lot of running around today and I didn't wear a pedometer. Too many doctor appointments and other stuff (out of town company is coming), but I'm okay because I put in extra time on the treadmill yesterday.

*CARBS: The doctor, for the purposes of my own weight loss, said that
the only things that matter are the calories and protien. If I eat the
recommended 1,200 calories FOR WEIGHT LOSS not management,
I should lose about 1 pound a week. At 1,000 calories, 2 pounds (but he
cautions not to go faster than that) a week.

Recipes or New Things I've Discovered

Wow, I love this new recipe from recipezaar.com for Salsa Orange Roughy!
I bought a bunch of food bars from a local health food store and Safeway to try out as I was in search for the lowest carb but highest protien bar (all changed after talking to the doctor today, but oh well). Some were absolutely dreadful! Today's was okay, but definitely not on the list of "try again"!

Lessons I've Learned

There are different kinds of protien. The best is from the most natural form of food as possible. Food bars have the 'worst' protien compounds out there, so it's best to "beef up."
