Busy
Day Full of Accomplishments
Today was a very busy day but I got a lot accomplished.
It started with an early morning wake up so that I could finish up with
the Funhouse Creation cards I had whipped up the night before to accompany
gift certificates the boys took to school on their last day to deliver
to their teachers (music and art included) and several key administrators.
I was proud that the cards not only looked good, but I was able to get
the boys to sign them while I added cute, fun and yet sentimental notes
inside before stuffing them in their labeled envelopes which were then
handed to the boys on their way out the door with explicit delivery instructions.
After
dropping them at school, I returned home to clean the kitchen, make the
beds and straighten up a bit while my hubby dragged his butt in from work
and went straight off to his cave to work fruitlessly on a project intended
for one of the boys' classrooms which involved creating a video CD/DVD
of snaps from the entire school year of the students and the activities
they participated in since last August which was supposed to be accompanied
by a variety of the top 10 songs and several songs the kids themselves
have recorded. Alas, the poor guy was thwarted by the evils of technology
as the AVI file first wouldn't even convert, then wouldn't save and when
he transferred it to his PC from the laptop, it would convert but the
accompanying sound track wouldn't record.
Once
I had my "chores" completed, I dedicated myself to writing for
a few hours before swimming laps which I had hoped to continue on with
until the boys came home. However, since my hubby wasn't able to complete
his project, I had to pull up stakes, grab a quick shower and change so
I could zip over to the school to pick them up from their last day.
We
had a quick fruit and yogurt lunch after we coated ourselves with sunscreen,
then made a mad dash to change into our suits and head out to the pool.
Much to the boys' dismay, I decided after 2 1/2 hours of swimming fun
that it was time to go shopping before we were to go to the opening day
of the local semi-pro team's ball game. They weren't very enthusiastic
about the prospect of going shopping, so while they asked their dad if
they could stay home with him, I went to take yet another shower. Experience
along with the snickers of rather rude fifth grade boys has taught me
how important it is to rinse my golden red locks with lemon juice lest
the red turn a rather questionable shade of green (which, despite my loud
protests, I could not convince them it was not snot). However,
as I was getting out of the shower, I was overcome with a coughing fit
(stemming from my allergies) that left me dizzy and tired so I opted to
stay home and take a nap.
I
slept hard and was woken what seemed only minutes later (but was hours,
instead) by my husband in enough time to get ready to go to the game.
I was very excited about going because it would be the first time since
my freshman year in high school where I would feel comfortable enough
to wear shorts and a short sleeved t-shirt out in public where more than
20 people would see me. What a high!
And
now for the final triumph... I also managed to take photos of my new exercise
weight room, offloaded them from my camera, did some quick graphical adjustments,
uploaded them to the new PhotoBucket.com account I created in a matter
of minutes and without further adieu:

About
Those Mini-Buttons With My Stats
Exercise
Goals: I'm on a 9-day rotation that corresponds
with my firefighter-hubby's work schedule. On days 1, 3 and
5 (emboldened for your reading pleasure) he's typically on duty (24
hours) at the fire house, then home after 8:00 AM starting on day 6. The
purpose of me doing this is so that I am assured I will get in the exercise
I need on a consistent basis and since we have a home gym now, when my
husband's home and I don't have this kind of motivation, I tend not to
do anything. There are now two rotations: A and B. I found that my original
schedule put some exercises in back-to-back.
Rotation
A: Days 1/3/5/7/9: 30 60 (revised 4/28/05) minutes aerobics, 30 minutes core (using
an exercise ball for various muscle toning and stretching) and 30 minutes
training (weights and/or resistance bands). Days 2/4/6: 60 90 (revised 4/28/05) minutes aerobics
(swimming, biking, walking/running).
Rotation
B: Days 2/4/6: 3 60 minutes aerobics, 30
minutes core, 30 minutes training. Days 1/3/5/7/9: 6
90 minutes aerobics (revised 4/28/05).
Exercise
Statistics: I
find it inspiring to see these numbers move upwards, especially
when I keep the totals up to date! It's fairly self-explanatory.
The first column is what activity I did, second is either how far
I went (miles) or how many laps I swam or how long I did the activity
on this particular day. Finally, the third column represents (if
it's totaled) the total miles/laps/hours I've spent since I began
tracking in November 2004.
Measurements:
Main
I also measure my neck, shoulders, biceps, forearms, thighs and
calves but for space, etc. I only list the main three. Of course,
when I update, I put the entire chart up and link the "total inches
lost" results to the most recent entry where I've listed the whole
shebang.
Weight
Statistics:
Again, this is pretty much self-explanatory and if you need a hint
for what is what, run your cursor over the category and you should
get a description. SW: Starting Weight; CW: Today's Current Weight
(yep, I weigh daily), GW: Goal Weight; SD: Starting Date; TD: Target
Date; TW: Total Weight to Lose; WLTD: Weight loss to date; WLR:
Weight loss remaining in pounds.
